The environment determines different types of LED power supplies that are suitable for the requirements of the environment. For instance, if you install waterproof rate LED strip lights in outdoor or in wet or humid places, you should take a waterproof LED power supply with IP 65, or IP67 or higher rating at the same time.

The IP rating for led rope light power supply is used to indicate the sealing effectiveness of the power supply enclosures. The more effective the sealing is, the better the enclosures protect against  from moisture and solid particles (components or dust etc). The first digit ranges from 0 to 6, means it is dust tight, the second digit is from 0 to 9. means how it can resist water jets.

Temperature is the another environment factor. LED power supply operates at the best efficiency within a range of temperature. They will generates heat when are running. Heat built up around the led driver power supply transformer will cause its efficiency to decrease. In the worst case, it will cause LED power supply unable to work if overheated over an extended period of time. By using heat sink or fans is the best way to provide good ventilation for power supply, or make sure don't install led lamp power supply in a too narrow area or too small box at least.
