What is constant current overload protection to a LED driver?

There are kinds of protection mode to a Electric products, for electronic LED drivers, its switch off, hiccup mode and constant current mode for overload protection, Then what would be constant current mode performance for a constant current or constant voltage led driver ?

When the driver gets into overload CC mode protection, the voltage of driver will be lower, but the current would be constant, so that power supply will automatically low down the load to make the light is still on, but this has influence to the brightness of LEDs .

For example, a 12V 8.33A 100W power supply will be protected when it is normally overloaded by more than 20%.

When its connected with about 150W, the overload protection will makes the load to driver maintained at about 120W to make it work normally and won’t reach 150W.
