A switched-mode power supply is also known as a switching power supply

A switch mode power supply is a power converter that converts power using switching devices that are turned on and off at high frequencies, and storage components such as inductors or capacitors to supply power when the switching device is in its non-conduction state.

Switching power supply has high efficiency and is widely used in various electronic equipment, such as battery-operated devices , computers, sensitive electronics, and other equipment requiring high efficiency.

The basic switch mode power supplies (SMPS) are categorized based on supply input and output voltage. The four major categories are：AC to DC / DC to DC / DC to AC / AC to AC
